With all the injuries at the back we have no Plan B

With Ledley and Dawson also absent, the news that Jonathan Woodgate is still unable to train is the worst news you can get as a manager

Vedran Corluka 100% fit to face Preston on Wednesday, Sebastien Bassong getting good news that he should be fit to resume playing, but still leaves us with no plan B, should anything happen to either. 3_woodgate

Woodgate`s recent American evaluation and operation, have failed to resolve his groin problem, which remains’ pretty much as before the surgery and leave him unable to train.

Speaking of the situation Harry told The Mirror: ‘Woodgate’s nowhere near playing again,’
‘He went to see a specialist again and he just can’t train.
‘We haven’t got to the bottom of the injury at all, what’s causing him discomfort.’

Harry has been speaking about the tough task we face at Preston in the Carling Cup on Wednesday.

“It will be a difficult test,” he said. “I remember going there a couple of years ago with Portsmouth and getting absolutely battered. David James saved a penalty and somehow we sneaked a goal in the last minute of the game for an undeserved win so we know it will be a tough, tough game at Preston.

“Alan has done a fantastic job there and they are a very good team. It is a difficult place to go.

“They are doing well in the league this year and Preston is a great club with great tradition. It is always a pleasure to go back there and see Tom Finney because he is a real legend.”

As with in our victory over Doncaster Rovers in the last round, Harry admits he is likely rotate the squad when we travel to Lancashire.

“I have got a big squad and they all need games, so I will mix it up again like I did at Doncaster.

“That is not being disrespectful to the opposition, it’s just I have got people here that need to play. But whoever plays they will have to play really well to get the win because Preston are a good side.”

And if weeks become months for Woody`s recovery, the need to bring in a quality and experienced centre back will increase, particularly if Ledley continues to pick up injuries. Talk has again resurfaced that Harry could look at Anton Ferdinand, which will dismay the majority of Spurs fans but we really have to secure our defence and we should now be

Looking for someone to lead them at the back .

What do you think who would you sign….
